The League of Moveable Type

Posted by Nick | Posted in General The League of Moveable Type

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while and it’s probably old news now. But, if you haven’t already, go and check out The League of Moveable Type.

The League is an open source project from the guys at A Good Company. They supply free @font-face (read more here) ready fonts for use in either print or web. The best thing is though, the fonts are actually really good.

Here is a selection from the site:

Alternate Glyphs are a nice addition to Raleway by Matt McInerney

League Gothic is a revival of Alternate Gothic No.1

Sorts Mill Goudy by Barry Schwartz

Also featured is the Flaminia Type System by Andrea Bergamini, which is not a useable typeface as such (yet) but more of an exploration into the deign of street signs. The idea sounds really interesting and it will be nice to see how it progresses. Read more about Flaminia here.

Quadradao

Brazilian agency Quadradao (which roughly translates as ‘boxy’) have recently relaunched their site with lots of lovely new projects. The timeline-inspired navigation is like an education into their evolution. I admire their simplicity of predominantly working in type, shape and colour. “Modern architecture influences us, not as form but as a method”. To see more [...]
