Chris Bassett

Chris Bassett is a recent Lincoln graduate who has a varied portfolio of motion graphics, photography and typography. His ISTD project earned him a merit and initially caught our eye with its similarity to a certain project of our own.

“Initially I intended on capturing existing type and content, observed from my surroundings. However, the project had shifted, putting the focus on generating my own content, and using my environment as the canvas for my typography.”

“Projected typography became my primary tool, enabling my thoughts and musings on what my surroundings meant to me to be placed back onto the walls and into the corners that inspired the content. The content itself looked at how our surroundings may influence aspects of our identity, or how they can provide places to think or hide from a variety of issues faced by people in their lives. To give further presence to this project, animation was used allowing the typography to tell a story using contemporary media, and help to create a pace that supported the nature of the content.”

Lovely feel to this. Almost spooky.
It looks like it was shot in a hospital at night.

Really nicely done.

Quadradao

Brazilian agency Quadradao (which roughly translates as ‘boxy’) have recently relaunched their site with lots of lovely new projects. The timeline-inspired navigation is like an education into their evolution. I admire their simplicity of predominantly working in type, shape and colour. “Modern architecture influences us, not as form but as a method”. To see more [...]
